Also the fixed version of level 2 has NOT been tested. This should have been sorted by this Thursday. However, being the firm believer in sods law I am going to presume that they don't get tested. So please get in touch with the answer to the following question. Should I change the starts (Especialy on 4 and 6) so the other person doesn't know where they are going to turn up after they die? Also I would welcome the following contributions from people Some better music (Can't be bothered myself (Or maybe thats can't afford the £150 to get a midi pickup for my guitar)) Some more and better front end graphics (Sound volume, level titles and such) Some new sound effects * Play Information * Episode and Level # : E2M1, E2M2, E2M3, E2M4, E2M5, E2M6, E2M9 Single Player : Yes (But nowt to do) Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes (If you like backstabbing) DeathMatch 2-4 Player : Hello nurse! (With -respawn & -altdeath on skill 1) Recommended # of players (DeathMatch) : 2 Difficulty Settings : Not implemented (USE SKILL 1 to get correct amount of ammo) New Sounds : Yes New Graphics : Yes New Music : Yes Demos Replaced : None * Construction * Base : New levels from scratch Editor(s) used : See credits Known Bugs : Rockets go through some walls on level 2. The new dead face doesn't line up. (Insertion points cause DOOM to crash) WinDEU crashes when I tell it to XAlign the textures on Frag Fest. If you find other bugs please get in touch. Story: This all started with Frag it Damn it (My first level) which I made for my first DeathMatch with David (Hence the name). Here is a few more details on each level: LEVEL 1: TOURNAMENT Split into four different areas: A kind of swampy bit where you MIGHT be able to get stuck, a thin corridor bit. Two "hitec" rooms and a castle type arrangement. (There may be more secret areas). To exit: flick a switch, the switch just after the lost soul cabinent (And on the opposite side), which will open the exit columns in the crusher room so the other player can run THROUGH it. LEVEL 2: FRAG FRENZY It's a maze, a teleporter run & a courtyard. All in one! To exit flick the switch behind the exit door which raises the pillars in the room opposite the exit signs. The other person gets on the pillar then jumps in the direction of the exit sign. Then flick the switch in there. To lower the pillars again just walk back through the exit door once the pillars have stopped riseing. LEVEL 3: THERE'S A HOLE IN MY FRAG DEAR LIZA A 'slightly' bizzare theme to this level. Float around the main arena (Is that floor as safe as it looks?) then float up out of it or be boring and take the lift. To exit flick the switch by the chaingun ONLY passage. Then the pillar by the lift in the main arena opens. Walk through it and flick the switch. LEVEL 4: THE WAREHOUSE After killing each other SO often in the last three levels you and your frag mate decide to patch things up and go on a holiday together. Unfortunatly the peace was not long lived: While trying to shoot your 'pal' you shot the pilot and the plane crashed. You found yourself on top of a mountain with a large building below... Hmm. "I'd like to get down there" you think to yourself. However the sides of the mountain are to steep to walk down and it's to big a drop to fall down. Convienently there is a lift in front of you. You look at your one time pal. He's reaching for a shotgun. You can either try and patch things up on the way down or just go back to the killing. To exit: Flick the switch to the right of the entrance into the stone rectangle then the floor will dissapear in the top right of the same rectangle so take advantage of this and fall though it and flick the switch. LEVEL 5: CRATER It came from outer space. And left one bloody big hole in the ground! Age old creatures, no longer known to man, have bored passages through this crater and they also have kept some pets. The question is. Are the pets still alive? and will I be able to kill my frag mate here? Who knows and yes. To exit: Flick the switch on the lower section of the south east. The door high up in the north west opens, walk through and flick. Tip: The path to the secret level is on this level. It is not a switch. It is not a trip wire. Good luck in finding it. LEVEL 6: SPACE SHIP It appears that it was not a lump of rock but an alien space ship that made the crater! Your battling with your frag mate has awoken the aliens who promptly beamed you aboard their ship and sedated you to perform some biological experiments. You wake up some time later. The ship appears to have been attacked. Only essential systems (Life support and emergency lighting) are working fully and according to the ship computers wakening message only one engine is working, the right wing has been destroyed and hull integrity has failed on the upper deck so access to these areas has been cut off. The ship is spiraling out of control towards a barren planet. There's not a lot you can do to regain control of the ship and as your vision clears you can see your frag mate coming round on a nearby bunk so you decide to begin the killing again, at least until the ship crashes. To exit: Flick the switch in the room with the faulty engine then get onto the lift to the upper sections (In the connecting circle room north of the main cargo hold) and then flick the switch below the saftey lock. LEVEL 9: CHAAAARGE!!! (It's a secret level. It's supposed to be strange) You and your frag mate have been plucked from the mortal plane to the heavens for the entertainment of the four cyber-gods. They have provided well for you. But they now want their fun. So run like 'hell' down that first corridor to escape their wrath. You then find yourself in a battle area that has been split into 4 areas. An empty one. One with some of the Cyber God's minions in. Another with a dissappearing catwalk. Don't get caught out by it! And the final one, a gun height maze sunk into the ground. There are also a few spectators that try and liven up the action in this section. You allow yourself to have a little fun at your frag mates expense. But you must return to the mortal plane. There are 5 exits to the mortal plane. The four Cyber Gods each guard one. Wheres the other one? To exit find the only switch in the entire level (Candle). Then flick it. Someone else must find the doorway that opens up (Candle). Then walk through it. * This File For Other Games * While there is a Mark & Dave's Deathmatch for Doom 2, this is only version 5.2 and is not going to be updated. If you want to update these levels so they work with other games (E.G. Doom 2, Heretic, Duke Nukem etc.) then get in touch and I will help you as much as I can (Unfortunatly I have no longer got the un-dshrinked levels for the first 4 and the secret level). It is possible to get round the DShrink but it doesn't half take a long time. There is a single player version about somewhere (MB_DTSAD) but it is crap. I just made it to keep my friend Shaun quiet cause he thought the levels were wasted on Deathmatching. * Version History * 0.5 - The first secret level was put in. Being my first level it was pants. 1 - The first level was put in. Secret level was removed. 2 - The second level was put in, added more secret areas to level 1. 3 - The third level was put in, changed door arrangement on first level. 4 - The seceret level was put in, changed file name back to MB_DCT and I am keeping it that way to prevent confusing WAD shells. 5.2 - The fifth level was put in, the levels were optimized using DSHRINK and other methods and copyrighted music was removed. 6.3 - The sixth level was put in, fixed the skull teleport bug on level 1 that turned up after optimisation, fixed to many visplanes crash on level 2 (Thats why there is a dirty big brown ceiling in the north east of the map which spoils the whole thing.), added my own music, realised I had called level 3 'There's a Whole in my frag dear liza' all the way through this file so I changed it, put in and took out the bug that caused the music to crash the game, stopped stairs moving on level 2, used a newer version of BSP to speed up the first room of the first level. 6.3b - Tidied up the text file. 6.3c - Tidied it up again. Hopefully by the V7 it will have been fully DEATHMATCH tested. NOTE V7 Will only go out if modifications are needed. No more levels are planned (I'm not doing any anyway). * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may attempt (It's been DSHRINKED) to use this file to make new levels.
