So is it really true...
Is this forum...
dying?

Yep, seems like even the last few believers of JbGames are becoming inactive.
Only initiatives, such as this post, can keep this forum somewhat alive for about a day or two and that's it.

Even the God of this religion is gone. And it seems like he even cancelled the new project which would richly revive this community (well... from what I deducted, at least ~X().

Well, I say, if James doesn't come back quickly (with Meteor 3 (or at least some news!)) this place will be gone forever and the site might be taken down. Now that would be really sad. So I'm asking once more:

James, where are you??

... with a font size of 10 units, in bold, italic and underlined.
I am truly hoping that this prayer shall be answered by our God (to compare with religion again :D), otherwise, well, I guess it's going to be time to start exchanging each other's email addresses as a last resort! Not like it's going to be a large list anyway ;)

Yours really really really seriously honto ni doumo truly,
ParaSait

(I made this post real neat, cause every post might be my last one from now on. (^^,))

The truth is that I feel the same way (ofc ;)). I was kinda grown up with Meteor, I beated it many times, made some mods for it, it was all fun. It became better with every new release, the forum was a lively place to come with approx 30 members that time. It felt like I'm a part of a community not much like in forums with thousands of users but the current situation here is not good either.
This place is kinda like the RZ forums now, some new posts now and then and even those aren't Meteor related. :|

From now on if I play Meteor it's like a nostalgia, reminds me those good times when I was still somewhat addicted to it as a kid. :rod

Anyway, here are my addresses:
         PetiX1
at gmail dot com
MasudaPetikkusu

(I use the second more regularly. That's my MSN address as well.)

And something happier: as a final(?) result I managed to match my post count with my user ID(619), don't forget to add the 3 petikkusu posts of mine to it. (^^,)

Ps. @ParaSait: Still I'm happy for this forum, coz without it we hardly met in real or online. B-)

Well, this forum is not in a good shape. But I am certain that it will live as long as we keep posting. We should continue doing it. It's true that I've been very busy the last couple of months studying for my exams. The last two of my examinations are in july. These days I barely find time to check the forums. But I sincerely hope that after I have passed all my exams, I will be able to make something related to Meteor. ;)

Yes, I believe it's dying, unless James tells more about the current situation. This site needs definately some advertising, adding it to GOG (Good Old Games) for example. It's got many good old games, but I think they're all buy-to-play. Found HW there too. What can I say? It was fun while it lasted, but let's not give up hope yet. I still got a mod to finish.

I still read the forums about every other day.
I just haven't posted, because I haven't needed to really answer any questions or share any news.

If y'all wanted to do something cool, we'd all get on xfire or skype, and download hamachi, and we'd play meteor 2 multiplayer online.

I've played it online over hamachi a few times, and it's very fun.

The only meteor 2 projects I'm working on (I play it weekly) are just fixing stuff from meteor 2.

I think James is working on some DOOM stuff now.

The kids these days are into FPS and violent games more than into classic good old games, like Meteor, Doom, and some other games.

can't ya wait till games are fun again and have good graphics?!?! that'll be the day.

now they make games 3D just because, uh, 3D games are standard. Bad plan. 3D should add to a game, not just make it 3D.

Imagine if you could game with a controller that fast.

Yes, we're going off topic!! YAY!1 OFF TOPIc. (ok, the only reason I did this was because I thought it'd be funny, and if a mod is doing such stuff, then it's definitely not too hopeful):D:D:D:D

but don't worry it will return.

I left for college, putting an end to my gaming for a good while. James is also presumably very busy with real life as I've watched his Skype activity plummet.

The bit of time I do have online is used for my gaming community, WGO, where I manage the website (http://wgoic.com). As of right now I am putting all of my energy into major changes for WGO, which will occur at the end of this month.

I would say we are in a strong activity lull, and there's not much anyone can do about it...except wait. If worst comes to worst and suddenly one day jbplay goes offline, you are all welcome to use my forums (http://wgoic.com/forums).

super bump but yeah meteor is kinda dead to me. I recently decided to open it up to see if I could get some ideas for some stuff to do, but despite meteor's many editors, the game itself is not very flexible and I got bored real early. I can always create new graphics and stuff but usually the types of art I'd like to make seen in action can't be used in meteor. I will still credit this game to the day I die for opening my eyes to the world of making mods but my talents have expanded toward Doom, which will forever remain my favorite game of all time.

Speaking of which, UAC Ultra, a project I started a long time ago to experiment with the possibility of making average maps look cool just by using brown textures has finally been finished with the help of Super Jamie and released a few days ago. (It's a little like Mankind: Struggle for Existence in FPS form) I created about 90% of the textures completely from scratch. Also created a new monster using DeHackEd and an original non-IconofSin boss battle at the end. It has gained a lot of critical appeal too and has received nominations for a cacoward by two people so far :)

Learning about balance testing in my RTSS2 mod.
Course, I think that some other grand things might be headed our way soon.
